Client Testimonials

Family Law

My name is Cindy. I am a Police Officer and Hostage Negotiator for the Houston Police Department. I have known John William "Billy" Belk for years as a friend, dedicated fellow officer, talented Hostage Negotiator and a skilled Attorney. I am proud to say that my husband, Mike, and I were one of Billy's first legal clients. We challenged him with an Adoption Case. Even though he was leaning toward a criminal law career, he did not hesitate to take our case. Immediately, he began researching and learning all he could about the adoption procedures and legal issues.

The adoption was through a county other than Harris County. This complicated the process due to the fact that Billy had to travel to fill out and file papers, meet with litigants involved, and speak on our behalf. He worked fast and diligently to prevent delays.

We will never forget the final court day. We were in the courtroom, standing up at the judge's bench. We were holding our little "Angel." She was playing with her toy, and then dropped it on the floor. Billy was reading aloud the mandatory legal paperwork and without skipping a beat, reached down, picked up the toy and handed it back to Angel. Angel took this as a gesture of playtime. She smiled and threw it back on the floor. Again, without stopping, Billy reached down, picked up the toy and handed it to Angel. The judge smiled and some people in the courtroom laughed.

Finally, with no protests, the judge granted and finalized the Adoption, in writing and verbally, making our little heart, Angel, ours forever. After the judge finished, everyone in the courtroom clapped loudly, some giving a standing ovation. Others cried with me, my family and friends, happy to be a part of this wondrous event.

Billy always gives his best at everything he does. He is dependable, proficient, professional and skilled with endless successful results.

Personal Injury

After a head-on collision and a five-day hospital stay, I returned home and immediately began receiving phone calls from insurance companies. To say the least, I didn't feel like dealing with the calls nor was I prepared to make decisions about insurance payouts. I knew that I needed someone to represent me so I could recover. It was then that I called Billy Belk.

I had known Billy because we had served together in the Houston Police Department. He was well known throughout the department for his dedication, honesty and professionalism.

From that point forward, the only thing that I had to do was get well. Billy took care of everything else. He was able to negotiate the final settlement with the insurance company.

As I write this letter, I can still recall the relief that I experienced as a result of knowing that I had such an honest and competent professional representing me. In fact, I have since referred a close personal friend to Billy, and they were completely satisfied as well.
